Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening, often known as bleaching, is a non-invasive dental procedure that changes the colour of natural tooth enamel drastically. It’s a great method to bring out the best in your smile.
Because tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, any old fillings or crowns should be evaluated for replacement. After bleaching, any restorations will be replaced so that they match your newly white teeth.
Tooth whitening is not a long-term solution. If you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or alcohol, a touch-up may be required every few years or more frequently.
Teeth Whitening Treatment Procedure
Two visits are normally required for the at-home tooth whitening procedure. To begin, impressions of your teeth will be taken in order to create bespoke trays. Fluoride is commonly used to avoid sensitivity. The trays are fitted and delivered at your second session.
The trays are used in conjunction with a whitening gel. Depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening, most patients will do two 30-minute treatments over a few weeks. During the whitening process, some patients may feel tooth sensitivity. After bleaching, any sensitivity will fade quickly.
You’ll get instructions on how to care for your teeth and trays at home, as well as encouragement to see your dentist on a frequent basis to help you maintain a beautiful, healthy, and bright smile.
