Porcelain Inlays / Onlays

Dental inlays are significantly more enduring and natural-looking than gold inlays or metal fillings since they are constructed of durable materials like tooth-colored porcelain.

Onlays are used to treat tooth decay that has spread to one or more cusps. Onlays are made of tooth-coloured material, making them almost imperceptible to the naked eye. Because onlays only remove a little portion of a tooth’s surface, they aid to preserve more tooth structure.

Onlays’ most essential benefit, however, is that by preserving damaged teeth, they help patients avoid the need for more severe treatment in the future.

Two appointments are normally required for an inlay or onlay procedure. Several highly exact impressions (moulds) will be taken during your first session, which will be utilized to construct your unique inlay and a temporary repair. The dentist will remove any decay and/or old filling materials while the tooth is numb. After that, the area will be extensively cleaned and meticulously prepped, with the surface being shaped to fit an inlay repair appropriately. While your inlay is being manufactured in a dental laboratory, a temporary filling will be put to safeguard the tooth.

Your new inlay or onlay will be carefully and precisely glued into place at your second session. A few tweaks may be required to provide a correct fit and a comfortable bite. At the conclusion of your therapy, you will be given instructions on how to care for yourself.
