Composite (White) Fillings
To treat a cavity, the decayed section of the tooth is removed, and the region on the tooth where the decayed material originally resided is “filled.” Fillings are also used to restore teeth that have been worn down due to usage, such as those that have been cracked or shattered (such as from nail-biting or tooth grinding).
There are a variety of filler materials available, each with its own set of benefits and drawbacks. Composite fillings are more aesthetically suitable for usage in front teeth or more exposed portions of the teeth since they can be carefully matched to the colour of existing teeth. They are extremely long-lasting and will provide you with a gorgeous smile for many years.
Composite (White) Fillings Treatment Procedure
Composite fillings are typically placed in a single visit. Your dentist will remove decay as needed while the tooth is numb. Before the new infill is installed, the area will be completely cleaned and prepared. If the decay is close to the tooth’s nerve, a specific medicine will be used to provide additional protection. The composite filling will then be precisely inserted, contoured, and polished to restore the shape and function of your tooth.
When composite fillings are first installed, it is common to suffer sensitivity to hot and cold; however, this will lessen once your tooth has acclimated to the new filling. At the conclusion of your treatment, you will be given care instructions. Your new fillings will last longer if you practise good oral care, eat well, and visit the dentist on a regular basis.
